Brooke Jerome

Artistic Director

Choreographer/Dancer

Brooke Jerome is a K-12 Dance Educator for Memphis-Shelby County Schools and an award-winning teacher and choreographer in the private sector at numerous dance studios, schools, community theaters, and arts organizations throughout the Mid-South. Brooke earned her BFA in K-12 Dance Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, and was awarded "Outstanding Dance Educator" in 2018. She began dancing with the Honeys in 2018, and in 2022, Brooke was named Co-Artistic Director of Hot Foot Honeys Tap Dance Company, alongside Sara Sims. Most recently, she performed in the Hot Foot Honeys’ SOUND MATTER (2024) and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra’s Magic of Memphis (2024). In 2023 & 2025, she was awarded "Best Choreography" at the NWMTA Allie Awards and “Outstanding Choreography” at the Orpheum Theatre’s 2023 HSMTAs. Brooke has been an active member of the National Dance Education Organization since 2016, and is currently serving on NDEO's Board of Directors. As a Dance Educator, Choreographer, and Artistic Director, Brooke emphasizes the humanity that can be found in dance artists of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities, and encourages dancers to express themselves through movement that communicates who they are, and who they are meant to be.

Sara Sims

Artistic Director

Choreographer/Dancer

Sara Sims began her dance training at LRP Studios in Southaven, MS. She joined the Hot Foot Honeys in August of 2014 and was a Dancer and Choreographer before being named Co-Artistic Director in 2022. Sara attended the University of Memphis wherein she received her BA in German and Psychology. In 2022, she obtained her M.A. in Teaching from the University of Mississippi. Sara teaches tap dance at multiple dance studios throughout the Mid-South and has served as the primary tap instructor and tap choreographer for LRP Studios’ competitive team for the past 9 years. Her choreography has earned awards for its “clean and clear sounds" and “kaleidoscopic rhythm.” Sara’s second passion is the German language. When she is not in the dance studio, she enjoys teaching students about the German language and culture. She is celebrating her fifth year as a German teacher at Southaven High School.

Erin Billingsley

Dancer

Erin Billingsley is a long-time lover of the arts. She trained as a dancer in Arkansas and Tennessee, and danced in college for Arkansas State University. Professionally, she is happy to be included in The Hot Foot Honeys. She also dances for The Memphis Symphony Orchestra’s “Magic of Memphis” concert, and is happy to be stepping back into the Musical Theatre world in the production of Pippin this summer! Erin is an advocate for the special needs community, and volunteers her services often for The Baddour Center. The past three years she has competed in TBC’s Dancing For Our Stars fundraising event, where she and her partners won best dance each year. Along with the other contestants, she has helped to raise nearly $200,000 benefiting the TBC residents. In her daily life she enjoys working, baking, and spending time playing golf with her husband and two boys.

Katie Cowden

Choreographer/Dancer

Katie Cowden began dancing at Amanda's Dance Express in Grand Prairie, TX at 6 years old. She attended Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy as a dancer and was a member of Rhythmic Souls Tap Company before moving to Memphis and becoming part of the Hot Foot Honeys in 2023. In 2022, she received a BFA in Studio Art from the University of North Texas with a concentration in New Media Art. She is currently a substitute teacher at Crosstown High, as well as the tap instructor and choreographer at Visions Academy of Performing Arts. Katie is excited to keep dancing and being herself with the Hot Foot Honeys.

Susan Elswick

Dancer

Susan Elswick is an avid lover of the arts. She has always enjoyed visual arts, dance/movement, and music. She danced for over 15 years, her foundational years were with Patricia Williams School of Dance, before she took a pause to raise her 3 wonderful children (now 22, 19, and 17) and to pursue a career as a social worker. She is currently a professor at the University of Memphis in the School of Social Work, she runs a small private practice in the region serving children and families, and she is an affiliate faculty member of the University of Memphis Institute for Arts in Health. Susan often teaches social work students and community partners about the power of expressive arts in practice. She combines the arts with therapeutic interventions to engage her participants in the healing process

Meredith Keaton

Choreographer/Dancer

Meredith Keaton is a native Memphian who started dancing at the age of 2 under the tutelage of Dotti Patterson at Dotti’s School of Dance in Germantown, Tennessee. She trained in ballet, tap, and jazz and participated in dance competitions and workshops throughout her time with the studio. She was also a member of her high school’s dance team for four years. Following her graduation from Hutchison School in 2008, Meredith attended Saint Louis University and sought out opportunities to continue dance at the university’s recreation center in hip hop, Zumba, and belly dance. After graduating in 2012, she returned to Memphis where she attended the University of Memphis, receiving a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling in 2015. Meredith auditioned and became a member of the Hot Foot Honeys in the fall of 2017. Meredith currently works for the Memphis City Council as Senior Legislative Analyst. She graduated in December 2024 from the University of Memphis with a master’s degree in city and regional planning and a graduate certificate in local government management.

Jelissa Myers

Choreographer/Dancer

A Horn Lake native, Jelissa has been dancing at the age of 5. She studied jazz, tap, hip hop, and ballet at LRP  Studios for 6 years, danced competitively for 3 years with Horn Lake Middle/High dance team, and also performed and competed with Horn Lake’s Show Choir and Concert Choir. Jelissa co-founded the Urban Dance Club at Belhaven University while pursuing her undergraduate degree and is an avid line dancer. This is Jelissa’s second year with the Hot Foot Honeys. She will be graduating in May 2025 with a Master’s in Nutrition Science and is excited to start a new career in research.

Riley Payne

Choreographer/Dancer

This is Riley’s first year performing with the Hot Foot Honeys! She grew up dancing at LRP Studios. Riley graduated from the University of Mississippi with BA in Biochemistry. There, she was the President of Ole Miss Student Dance. Now, she teaches Human Anatomy at DCHS, teaches a variety of dance classes at LRP Studios, and is a local choreographer for high school and community theatres. Next year, she will be attending UTHSC pharmacy school! She is forever thankful to this company for allowing her to continue to share her love for dance! She wants to thank Brooke and Sara for all the hard work that they do, and she wanted to thank all of the Honeys, for sharing their art and giving her so much joy this year!

Graycie Pegram

Dancer

Graycie is currently in her 3rd year with the Hot Foot Honeys. She has been dancing since she was 3 years old. She works at Starbucks as a Shift Supervisor and attends Arizona State University Online. She is majoring in Biomedical Sciences and plans to become a Medical Dosimetrist.

Elizabeth Smithers

Dancer

Elizabeth is a 10-year veteran of the Hot Foot Honeys. She started dancing (tap, jazz and ballet) at age 5 in her hometown of Clarksville, TN. After moving to Memphis to attend Rhodes College, she sang and danced in Cabaret and Merrily We Roll Along. Today this 50-something wife and mother puts her English degree to work at Archer, one of the largest independent ad agencies in the country. Elizabeth dedicates this season to her late mom Kendra, who was her devoted “dance mom” long before that term even existed.

Laura Testino

Choreographer/Dancer

Laura Testino started taking dance class and carrying a notebook around when she was four and she was still doing that at 17 and somehow she is still doing that now at 30. She holds dual degrees in dance and journalism from the University of Alabama, and a lot of respect for her short stints living in New York City and New Orleans. Her journalism career brought her to Memphis in 2019. She (finally) found her way back to dance with the Hot Foot Honeys in 2023. Laura lives in Midtown with her fiancé Henry, their dog Rita June, and their (sometimes indoors) porch kitty Badger P.

Olivia Wilkinson

Choreographer/Dancer

Olivia is ecstatic to be dancing with the Hot Foot Honeys for a third season! When not dancing with the Honeys, Olivia works in IT and cybersecurity at a local brokerage firm and recently became a Certified Security Analytics Expert (CSAE). She is currently studying online at George Washington University and, upon graduation, will receive her Master’s of Engineering in Cybersecurity Compliance and Policy. Olivia is so excited you’re here and is thrilled to share time and space with these wonderfully creative and brilliant humans!

Kayla Woody

Choreographer/Dancer

Kayla Woody, 26, is a dance instructor and choreographer at Dance Dynamics Memphis. In addition to teaching, she works as a competition judge and director at Inferno Dance. Kayla’s love for dance started at a young age. As the daughter of a studio owner, she began taking classes around the age of two. She grew up as a competitive dancer at Fabulous Feet The Company in North Little Rock, Arkansas, and later went on to direct the Emerson Urban Dance Theater’s Tap Company while attending Emerson College in Boston. Kayla is a first-year member of the Hot Foot Honeys and is grateful to have found a group of friends who share her passion for tap dance. When she isn’t dancing, she enjoys crocheting, spending time with her cat, Bug, and reading a good book.
